What is recipe costing?
It's the technical card for a dish: a list of ingredients with exact quantities per serving and their cost. It tells you exactly how much it costs to produce each dish on your menu.
Can AI help me create a recipe card?
Yes. If you don't know the exact quantities, the system suggests an initial estimate based on standard recipes. You review and confirm.
Do costs update automatically?
Yes. When you upload a supplier invoice to the Documents module, ingredient prices update and every recipe that uses them recalculates automatically.
Can I see the margin for each dish?
Yes. For every recipe you see production cost, selling price, gross margin in euros and food cost as a percentage — including a breakdown by channel.
Isn't a spreadsheet cheaper?
With a spreadsheet you enter everything manually, and when the supplier raises prices nobody updates it. With Qamarero, costs flow automatically from invoice to dish margin.
Can I cost sauces or bases used across multiple dishes?
Multi-level recipe costing is in development. For now each recipe is flat. You can calculate the sauce cost separately and use it as an ingredient.
Do I need to cost my entire menu?
No. Start with your 10 best-sellers. Even that gives you a far clearer picture than nothing.
